Synopsis

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, and Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Beginning of an Epic Fantasy
November 10th, 2014
Every epic tale begins with one sentence, and that sentence can be found in this particular tome. Written decades ago, 'The Eye of the World' is perhaps the most innocent and boys-in-the-wild-world type of narrative amongst all the books in this lengthy series. Fear not though, for the series has completed despite Robert Jordan's departure. But perhaps because he won't pen another book, I feel this first book that launched the great series deserves special attention. Rand's innocence of the world AND of the women (or lack of DEEP mistrust...though Two Rivers folk already had that division) is somewhat refreshing. And as if the book was written after the series was completed, there are many hints and foreshadows that get picked up in the later series. Simply said, that much thought had gone into creating the first book of 'The Wheel of Time' series. If world building is what you dig, you will be in for some wild and lengthy reading, which is always a good thing when tales are told as great as this one.

Beginning of an epic journey
August 22nd, 2014
The first time I ever read this book, I remember becoming lost in the names during the first chapters. The Eye of The World was worth working my way through those first few chapters to master, however. Now, I am old friends with this volume, and the story greets me like an old friend I have missed. I absolutely relish returning to this book, to remember again the story's heroes, as the were at the beginning of their adventure.

Not Worth the Hoopla
March 24th, 2014
I don't see what all of the hoopla is about. The characters seemed very one dimensional. The idea of reading all of the rest of these books seems exhausting.

Good story, good characters... Slow pace and a little repetative in its descriptiveness. Well worth a read and looking forward to Book 2

Eye of the World

Great books, I am really excited to read them all again, and all together. In my opinion the characters and setting are on par with Tolkien, and the writing is captivating. A must read for any fantasy fans.
