Synopsis

McCammon’s epic bestselling novel about a girl psychic struggling to survive in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust

Something flashes in nine-year-old Swan’s brain, telling her that trouble is coming. Maybe it’s her mother, fed up with her current boyfriend and ready to abandon their dismal trailer park and seek a new home. But something far worse is on the horizon. Death falls from the sky—nuclear bombs which annihilate American civilization. Though Swan survives the blast, this young psychic’s war is just beginning.

As the survivors try to make new lives in the wasteland, an evil army forms, intent on murdering all those tainted with the diseases brought by fallout. When Swan finds a mysterious amulet that could hold the key to humankind’s salvation, she draws the attention of a man more dangerous than any nuclear bomb. To rescue mankind, this little girl will have to grow up fast.

Great Post-Apocalyptic SFF Novel
March 28th, 2015
This might be hard to believe, but Robert McCammon's SWAN SONG is a better post-apocalyptic novel than Stephen King's THE STAND. There, I said it (and I'm a long-time King fan). McCammon is a gifted storyteller whom I wish wrote more often. In SWAN SONG, his story is tense and tightly written, but the story has an emotional weight, brought on by the characters, the attachments they form and their experiences navigating a world that has been turned on its head, that help it stand out among its peers. I can't stress enough how great a read this is. If you're looking for a science fiction/fantasy post-apocalypse story and you've landed here - go ahead and dive in. You won't regret it.

Swan Song

I have read this book three times and each time was as good as the last. This is the only book of Robert McCammon's I have read but will be researching other titles of his. Although this is a work of fiction, it makes you wonder what would really happen if there was a nuclear war. All three times I have read this book I could not put it down and when finished - almost feel like starting over again. I am looking forward to seeing what Robert McCammon's other books are like.

Great read, good story, characters with authentic human emotions not just war, blood and guts. It is more than a conflict of good versus evil, it is hope versus despair.

4stars for swans song

I adsolutely loved this book and fell in love with the characters. Im glad that I found this for so cheap or I would have never read it. I wish all of his books were better priced because I love his story telling and his writing. I am NOT willing to pay 11.00 bucks for another book though. I read too fast and too much to be able to buy the higher priced books. I couldn't afford my reading habit at those prices. If they ever come down in price though I will definitely be reading all of them. I truly loved it.

Great read!

Not unlike Stephen King's 'The Stand', Swan Song is a well-written tale of good vs evil in a post apocalyptic world where human nature, both barbaric and auspicious, determines the survival of all.
