Synopsis

Nick Gautier's day just keeps getting better and better.

Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to claim his soul.

Being a teenager is no picnic either. His new principal thinks he's even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can't even mention, and the girl he's not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.

But more than that, he's being groomed by the darkest of powers, and if he doesn't learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them...

That which doesn’t kill you

Hopefully makes you stronger. Or is that invincible? Invincible the second installment in the Chronicles of Nick sees our hero taking lessons from Death. Death as in the Grim Reaper is a serious downer. He has absolutely no sense of humor. Grim comes complete with his own set of shadows, Pain and Suffering. His lessons are slow and tedious and Nick despairs that he will ever master what he’s shown. The name of the game is divination. If trying to find things that are lost, those that don’t want to be found and seeing into the past and future are not enough Nick has his hands full with a new football coach and a slew of bounty hunting demons. Life just doesn’t serve up any breaks after their latest brush with zombies. As shady as they come the new coach is real bad news, the kind that leaves dead bodies behind. With threats of being railroaded into prison and being the next body that turns up Nick is forced to delve into things he’d just as soon not. Along for the ride is Nick’s protector, Caleb who deals whup ass with the best of them. Simi is serving up beignets and barbeque sauce. Kody is dealing out kisses and has poor Nick confused with wishful thinking. The sidelines are filled with the typical snarky characters like Bubba, Mark and Madug. Ambrose is a reluctant participant. Last but not least life’s a challenge living up to momma Gautier’s expectations. But all in all things are definitely looking up on the home front if only the rest of life could be so easy. Invincible proves to be another action packed fast paced novel. Once again I couldn’t put down a book by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I don’t suspect the day will come when I can. So if you haven’t picked it up yet then I highly recommend you do. You can’t go wrong with any of the Chronicle of Nick series.
