Synopsis

MORE THAN 100 MILLION COPIES SOLD WORLDWIDE
NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

    Oh dear god...

This.. was one of the worst books I've read in a while. I bought it to see what all the hype was about and see why 90% of the people who've read this book hated it. And I must say, they've got some valid points. The writing is boring, unimaginative and plain, the author is not knowledgeable about BDSM at all, and for what is supposed to be a book about a, and I'm using this term very loosely, 'BDSM relationship' I find it childish that she can't even write the word penis. I wouldn't advise wasting your money on this. If you want to read it, go to a library and check it out for free first before purchasing. Written word, one of the most wonderful achievements, and this is what comes out of it? Pitiful.

Bored and sad I spent money on this

The constant amount of Britishisims took me out of the book and the long drawn out thoughts from Anna bored me. She was whishy-washy and had no back bone. Christian was unrealistic in every way and the use of mercurical to describe his moods had to have been used at least 20 times. This author has no real writing skill and the hype is unwarranted. I guess I shouldn't be surprised seeing as how it is fan writing based on twilight; another author with a zeal for foolish long words chosen to impress but feel like they have been picked straight from the thesaurus(sorry if spelt wrong) and leaving it feel juvenile. The end result is a book better left unread. Don't waste your time and money. If you want a love story with struggle read Wuthering Heights.

Stupid book, waster of time & money

The writing was juvenile, and the romance was creepy. The steamy parts weren't written well enough to make it worth the time or money. I look at the movie trailers and think "maybe the movie will be better than the book" because it can't be much worse.

    Ouch

I'm pretty sure the people giving this drivel four or five stars don't tend to read very much. The writing is painful and the characters are underdeveloped and boring as hell. I read all three in the series hoping it would get better, but it didn't. If you want a good BDSM read, try the Sleeping Beauty series by A. N. Roquelaure (AKA Ann Rice). At least it won't put you to sleep or offend you with its awfulness.

    Horrible

I'll never get that time back. A lot of the scene descriptions were repetative and boring. Would not recommend these books.
