Synopsis

Former mean girl Dixie Davis is back in town and it's payback time. Literally. Dixie is flat broke and her best-make that only-friend, Landon, is throwing her a lifeline from the Great Beyond. Dixie stands to inherit his business…if she meets a few conditions:

She's got to live in Landon's mansion.

With her gorgeous ex-fiancé, Caine Donovan.

Who could also inherit the business.

Which is a phone sex empire.

Wait, what?

Landon's will lays it out: whoever gets the most new clients becomes the owner of Call Girls. Dixie has always been in it to win it, especially when it comes to Caine, who's made it clear he's not going down easy. (Oh, mercy.) Can Dixie really talk dirty and prove that she's cleaned up her act? Game on!

    Another Gem!

When I first picked up this book, I thought it would be one of those light-hearted funny reads that Dakota Cassidy is known for…well, she’s known to me that way, at least. I was partially correct in that assumption. This is a wild and crazy ride of second chance love and atonement set to the backdrop of a competition to own a phone sex business. What I didn’t expect was crying through half the book and the strong message the story is really trying to convey. Daisy is the town “bad girl.” She is back in her hometown of Plum Orchard, Georgia for her best friend’s funeral. Daisy has burned every bridge she’d ever constructed and was deliberately cruel in high school and beyond. Daisy also had a very public breakup with her ex-fiancé Caine ten years prior and wants to get the hell out of Dodge so she doesn’t run in to him during her time in Plum Creek. Not only does Daisy have to face Caine, but they both are invited to the reading of the will after the reception. Two people with a volatile past in the same room together after ten years shouldn’t have a problem getting along…right? The story was funny, highly laughable, and completely endearing. It started a little slow for me but that’s because there was a lot of backstory that was needed in order to understand people’s interactions with Daisy. She did A LOT of bad things to a lot of people. Caine was completely gorgeous and I loved all the sexy accents and voices he could do. He was very wary of Daisy and her claims of turning over a new leaf so he devised a plan to test Daisy’s resolve in a pretty creative way. I loved these two together and I hope to see them in future books. I love how Landon meticulously constructed this plan to get Daisy and Caine back together. Their journey is bittersweet and the scenes where Landon is mentioned had me in tears every time. This book is entertaining but also perspective altering. The message I’m taking away from the story is this: Life is too short and too precious to hold on to pain, mistakes and hate. Move forward, take chances, forgive, live your life to the fullest and most of all, love hard, love true and love always. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
