As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

As Don Piper said about himself, I tend to approach NDE experiences with caution, but not this one. This experience of Heaven has been written with such candid honesty and simple humility, I have been left with NO doubt of its reality. Why else would anyone want to re-live those torturous moments of pain and depression, except to share his glimpse of our eternal home? This book gives wonderful reassurance to believers and should give cause to non-believers to re-think about the road they travel in this life and where their eternal home will be. The message it carries for those suffering beyond-normal pain and depression will find amazingly honest reassurement for their journey. Thank you Rev Don Piper.

While the Author went through an extremely horrible & life changing car accident, I found the book a little wanting. Of course I'm curious about someone who went to Heaven and came back to tell the tale - who isn't? - but I found there wasn't enough talk about the Author's time "in" Heaven. He speaks a lot about his injuries, his slow & painful recovery and how he now reaches out to others who have to live a life with pain. This is very noble of him. Personally, I would have liked to hear more details about Heaven.
