Synopsis

Nothing

Life as Ava Garrison knew it ended the day her toddler son Noah went missing. In the two years since, she's been in and out of Seattle mental institutions, existing in a fog of grief. Noah's body was never found, and everyone assumed he drowned after falling off a dock. Until recently, Ava thought so too. . .

Is More Dangerous

Since she moved back home, Ava has experienced unsettling visions. She hears Noah crying in the nursery, glimpses him walking near the water. Her family, her psychologist, and her estranged husband are concerned for her well-being. Or are they worried about what she might discover?

Than The Truth

Did Noah really die, or is Ava losing her sanity? The deeper into her memories she goes, the more fearful she becomes. Ava thought her son's disappearance was the worst thing that could happen to her. But before this nightmare ends, she'll discover how terrifying the truth can be. . .

"A pure nail biter." --Harlan Coben

So-so

This book was relatively good. Good enough to keep me reading. That said, I was surprised by the poor writing, the repetition and the overuse of the term "gas lighting". Nevertheless, it was OK.

Mmmmm..... For me the lost of memory did not really gel. Otherwise a good read and yes I did suspect the one character but not the other one!

You Don't Want to Know

First of any Lisa Jackson mysteries I read...and I'm still reading her books :-) You Don't Want to Know is all I had hoped for in this sort of mystery- plus more. It is interesting, varied characters and quite atmospheric. The fact that the main character is drawn to, helped by, and yet uncertain about- an enigmatic and handsome man doesn't detract from the truly clever and mysterious plot. A lost, likely dead child, a confused grieving mother who's living on an island off Seattle with husband and family who are unreadable and peculiar, respectively - is another not so original plot...yet , Jackson carries it off in such a way that I loved the story, loved the setting, and was in turn charmed by, uneasy about and horrified by each strange character. Add to that several surprises and I was so glad I had chosen to read this book!

Slow going and not too unique. Very predictable dialogue and strange relationships in the story that never got explained or rationalized.

I loved this book! It was hard to put down and filled with twists and turns and really tugged at my heart strings being a mother. The author overuses the same odd words and repeats phrases excessively to the point that it gets irritating. It also seemed like some parts that would be significant in the puzzle ended up being meanness but I still enjoyed this book a great deal despite those things.

Definitely a page turner :)

It's fast paced and keeps u going as fast as u can read. I only have one criticism - it's far fetched at times and there are a lot of holes, especially the motives of some of the characters. Some reasoning for the "why did they do it" bits of this book is weak.

I'm used to reading Lisa Gardner, Tami Hoag and Harlan Coben who keep you at the edge of your seat. This book just went on and on and on...I was so bored!
