Synopsis

From New York Times bestselling author Eileen Goudge comes a poignant new novel that asks the question, “What would you do if you were told you had only six months to live?” For one professional matchmaker the answer is heart-wrenching: She must find her husband’s next wife.

Camille Hart, one of Manhattan’s most sought-after matchmakers, has survived more than her fair share of hardships. Her mother died when she was a young girl, leaving her and her sister with an absentee father. Now in her forties, she has already survived cancer once, though the battle revealed just how ill-equipped her husband Edward is to be a single parent. So when doctors tell Camille that her cancer is back—and this time it’s terminal—she decides to put her matchmaking expertise to the test for one final job. Seeking stability for her children and happiness for her husband, Camille sets out to find the perfect woman to replace her when she’s gone.

But what happens when a dying wish becomes a case of “be careful what you wish for”? For Edward and Camille, the stunning conclusion arrives with one last twist of fate that no one saw coming.

At once deeply felt and witty, The Replacement Wife is an unforgettable story of love and family, and a refreshing look at the unexpected paths that lead us to our own happy endings.

This book really did not impress me very much, but that is ok. It was just not my cup of tea, which does not mean it is not a good read for somebody else!

Well written story but some parts dragged a bit. Author did a great jog developing the characters. I went from liking some of them to disliking them as the story progressed. Camille was a perfect example of this. The book was engaging and I was swept into the story right from the beginning and couldn't put the book down! Great book to read on the beach on a vacation.

What i liked was that the characters had flaws. I didn't always like either of them the husband or Camille. However, as I said, I felt these characters were somewhat flawed and they have personal growth throughout the book not in a good lite i might add. The author does really get across her point about being careful what you wish for.

Not my favourite book. Didn't love the characters; even though I wanted to like them, I found many too one-dimensional and the few that weren't had such unlikeable aspects to their personality that I couldn't cheer for them.

This book made me appreciate every day life and the time I get to spend with my family. For the most part, I found this book to be heart-wrenching as you attempt to put yourself in that position. The ending was bittersweet yet I found it to end quite abruptly.

Well written and engaging. A story of what can happen when you try to become the master of your own fate - on both sides of the coin. The characters are believable and well rounded. Although the story did drag a little bit in some places, I found it mostly one of those books that was difficult to put down.
