This is a great book which kept me guessing right to the end. Couldn't put it down.

I loved this book. Characters are authentic, they have depth, moods and ambivalence. Yet the story is hardly just character studies. The mystery, including of course, a murder, truly is mysterious and Cleeves keeps you guessing, without appearing to do so. The surroundings are strangely fascinating, although subtle. Read it if you love mysteries, but appreciate intelligence and maturity in your fiction. :-)
