Synopsis

Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie's opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey.

She's a product of the "burg," a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.

Now Stephanie's all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad's, doing her best to sever the world's longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.

Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.

Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie's virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario's Sub Shop. There's still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.

It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.

Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

It caught me by surprise! I've often seen this series and have always put off reading it. I finally picked up the first book and now I'm hooked. The characters are easygoing, humorous and bright. It's a colorful chain of events that keep the reader bound to the book and the action. A pleasant discovery!

This book is great. It introduces you to Stephanie Plum and the rest of the characters who are in the rest of the series. It is a laugh out loud book. The stuff that happens to this poor woman is hilarious. I can't put the book down and am eager for the next. The whole series is awesome. You can't wait to keep reading to see what is going to happen next to Stephanie and her friends and family. This was made into a movie and was nice to put faces to names. I would really recommend this series. It is an awesome read.

An exciting and funny book from the first chapter. Follow Stephanie Plum and she stumbles her way through her new job as a bounty hunter. Will she catch the guy? Well down to a lot of luck and being in the right place at the wrong time she tries her hardest. And anyway who wouldn't want to catch the guy who stole her virginity.

fantastic. You can put it aside and stop reading. It's comedy, action, drama all in one. I've read the first book up to book 19 and looking forward for the other books. Thanks Janet.

I love reading this series. When I need a little adventure in a story with alot of humor I always choose one of the books in the series. Grandma Mazur is my favorite character, she is such a hoot. I just love how Stephanie always seems to get into such huge predicaments but always manages to come out okay.

Funny, funny, funny! I have never read anything like this. Stephanie is the perfect heroine. Bold, self-confident, a little bit klutzy and a diva for danger. And the cast of characters are endearing, frustrating and some are even lust-worthy. I can hardly wait to read the next one.

Laugh out loud, even in public places. I've read every book in this series and have recommended it to all my friends. One of them read the first book "One for the Money," and then went out and bought the whole series to date, took a week off from work and read them all.

Absolutely love this series! I laughed through the whole thing..only thing I suggest is that you don't start reading it unless you have the next one ready because you won't want to put them down.

This is the first of a series of nineteen of the Stephanie Plum series. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and would highly recommend everyone to to read. From the first page to the last kept you stuck to your chair. I found that you just couldn't put it down until you finished reading. It kept you spell bound to the very end. It was simply the best of a series I'v ever read.
