TOTALLY NEW AND REVISED 2013 EDITION! The first in the Maggie Newberry mystery series, Murder in the South of France takes Atlanta Copywriter Maggie Newberry to the south of France and Paris in her search for her sister and her niece's killer. Along the way, she meets Laurent--a sexy Frenchman who is not at all what he appears. Is he helping her in her quest? Or is he the reason for it? See how it all began: how Maggie and Laurent met and how they ended up in France in the first place, and why it is they work so well together to unravel murder mysteries in any language. (Warning: Do not read on an empty stomach! Will definitely cause cravings for wine and high-fat content French dishes.)

It was a nice read. Lots of possible suspects so it keeps you on your toes.

An interesting read . Keeps you guessing. A little slow at times though.

I'm convinced that when some authors decide to make a novel free they put less effort and care into it! Not "no" effort, just less. This story has poor character development for a romance-murder-mystery! The killer seemed like an afterthought. Character's eye colour changed from page to page, as did age, order of birth, and (in one strange instance) their name. The sheer unbelievable satirical caricaturing of non-American characters was jarring bordering on offensive! I see potential, but also a whole loada-page filling-crap - too much time spent cooking, eating and describing food after supposedly traumatic events! If this story was turned into a Hallmark drama-movie it would be shunted to the wee hours of the am followed by tele-commercials/infomercials selling spandex with a 24 month money back guarantee.
