Synopsis

A novella from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, Legion is a fast-paced, witty, and supremely fun thriller with a psychological bent.

Stephen Leeds is perfectly sane. It's his hallucinations who are mad.

A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people—Stephen calls them aspects—to hold and manifest the information. Wherever he goes, he is joined by a team of imaginary experts to give advice, interpretation, and explanation. He uses them to solve problems…for a price.

His brain is getting a little crowded, however, and the aspects have a tendency of taking on lives of their own. When a company hires him to recover stolen property—a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past—Stephen finds himself in an adventure crossing oceans and fighting terrorists. What he discovers may upend the foundation of three major world religions—and, perhaps, give him a vital clue into the true nature of his aspects.

Short yet quite captivating read. Sanderson only took 2 or 3 chapters to introduce multiple intriguing characters.

So Many Aspects to Love About This
November 26th, 2014
This is a really fun and well written story by Sanderson. Stephen Leeds (AKA Legion) is a complex and fascinating hero, and the hallucinatory folks (AKA his aspects) are similarly complex, creating a wry and intriguing setup. The "mystery" that Leeds and his hallucinatory companions follow is well-crafted and executed quite brilliantly. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella from beginning to end and look forward to reading more stories about Legion.

An interesting short story with a premise that is new and would make a great novel if developped more.

This was very different from anything I had ever read before, including the other books by Sanderson which I have read. Sanderson has an amazing imagination and an ability to tell a story in a way that makes it difficult to stop reading.

Needs to be a series

It would also do well as a tv show but that would have to be done carefully as to not ruin it.

Interesting

A very short yet interesting read. Could use a lot more development in the main character but does its trick for the intended size of the book. Would like to see a larger series with more robust aspects that don't emit such cookie cutter dialog.

Short.

Well... I bought this expecting a full length novel... boy was I wrong. The massive amount of 50 pages were cool I guess.

I hope Sanderson revisits this some day. I'd love to read a longer work about these characters.
