Synopsis

A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven. Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear. Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us. Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.

an abusive father who made his son lie for profit

A pandering book that takes advantage of peoples desire for heaven. A false story pushed by a father who took advantage of his son to make money off of other people's hopes.

Very inspirational!

This was a well written book on account of a little boy's visit to Heaven and back. His innocence charm and way of telling his parents that he was in Heaven when he was under for surgery. No matter what one believes in the afterlife or in God, this book is just a narration of a little boy's vision of Heaven. Whether you need spiritual uplifting and want to sort of not be in fear of death, then this little book will help you. I say "little" because it's a little boy's perspective of Heaven but the meaning can touch our lives in a big way. This book will not disappoint. I read some reviews where a lot of people think it's a pastor's way of preaching to have new believers through this medium of a book. Keep an open mind and maybe you will feel your heart uplifted. I know there is a movie version coming out soon this year maybe it will impact so many people n various ways. But this book made me feel that I don't have to be afraid of death. I believe in Heaven and God and Jesus even before reading this. The only impact I had with this was "wow, this little boy said so much with a lot of innocence." Enjoy the Burpos journey through a little boy's perspective of Heaven.

Intresting but short
February 21st, 2014
Intresting book simply written though I was expecting more detail . You do wonder if the environment that the boy has been brought up in had some influence in his experiences and if his parents were reading too much into his statements.
