“The Ghost Gang reckon they’re so good at dishing out advice to other people. Maybe it’s time they started trying to sort out their own problems.”

It was a straightforward case. New boy Stephen has been unable to form any friendships at Claire Rock Primary School but Robert discovers that there is someone in Stephen’s class who would love to make friends with him. All Robert has to do is bring the two children together.

But advice from an unwelcome source leads Robert to wonder whether he himself has always acted as a best friend should. Choosing to break one of the Ghost Gang’s few rules, he attempts to discover the truth about the past to help him decide what he should do in the present.
