Synopsis

The main website of the hassidic sect Chabad-Lubavitch gets 1.6 million unique visitors from around the world each month. The site is ranked #3,448 in the US, where 58% of its visitors are located and is also very popular in Israel, where it is ranked #413. Millions of Jews and gentiles around the world have a warm liking for Chabad-Lubavitch and its enthousiastic and welcoming emissaries, but many are uncomfortable with the deification of its late seventh Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson a.k.a. ´The Messiah´ and even, to some, as ‘G’d’. This deification is hidden on the website but obvious in every congregation with a Chabad rabbi.

In 1994 Schneerson died without having appointed a successor, deserting 40.000 followers to confusion and strife that last till this day. Many books have been published about Schneerson and Chabad, all of which became subjects of controversy, and the final word has yet to be spoken. For 43 years Schneerson seemed an irreproachable and almost angelic pastor to his faithfull followers but all the time he kept a dirty secret: when he was 52 he had an extramarital son with a 17 year old gentile girl.

During his lifetime Schneerson kept his illegitimate son hidden from almost all his followers and excluded from Chabad, and after his demise his closest aides continued that policy. Eighteen years after Rebbe Schneerson’s demise his hidden son, by then himself a rabbi, set out to expose his very unholy father and to establish himself as the rightful Eighth Rebbe, but in the process his focus shifted. The brutally exposing biography became a ruthlessly exposing autobiography as well and the story it tells is deeply disturbing.
