Great Collection of short romance stories!
December 19th, 2014
This anthology has a little bit of everything for every taste in the world of romance, whether it's erotica, contemporary, paranormal or historical romance. These forty short stories range in tone from sweet to sexy and with a variety of heat levels which are indicated before the story so the reader knows what to expect and may read what is to their taste. The following is a review for a few of the stories in the anthology ( and may be updated in the future as more stories are read). Based on what I've read so far, there is no doubt that this anthology is worth the money and that many new authors will be added to my favourites list! Contemporary Romance: In Sidney Bristol's story Picture Her Loved, we have a sexy couple involved in a BDSM relationship who finally admit their love for each other. I enjoyed the steamy scenes and the real emotions between the characters. If you like romance with a bit of kink, this one will definitely fit the bill. Sadie Haller's A Capella is another BDSM romance. The play between them is well done and the emotional link between the characters makes the story. In Falling Hard by Molly McLain, a friends to lovers story, the chemistry between Reed and Mia is evident form the first time Reed sees Mia again as a grown woman. The author has written a sweet and sexy prequel story that definitely will make the reader want to get her River Bend series! When I read First Date by Mina, my immediate reaction was Wow! This story was a real winner for me. Featuring a soldier struggling with PTSD and the woman who lives in his building, the budding relationship that starts with email and progresses to a personal meeting is filled with emotion and heat. The writing style was riveting and I only wished the story could have been longer, there was so much emotion and thought that went into it. Definitely an author I'll be looking into further. (I confess I've already read this story twice). In her Royal Rendezvous by Natasha Moore we have a delightful reunited lovers story. The characters were interesting, the love scene well written and it was an enjoyable sexy read. Compromising Positions by A.J.Vale is a story about 2 people on opposite sides of the law. The handsome cop and the attractive thief - a fun and flirty read with steamy sexual attraction between the 2 main characters and a perfectly appropriate happy for now ending. Hello Treasure by Faye Hunter was a delightful reunited lovers story. The plot line was really interesting and I loved the way the clues were put out for the woman to figure out who was leading her on the delightful treasure hunt to find her man. In Perfect No Matter What by Zoe York we have a sequel to the story What Once Was Perfect (which doesn't have to be read in order to enjoy this story but is certainly worth reading!). Laney and Kyle have found their way back to each other and are now looking to make things permanent between them. This story is full of all the things I love about Zoe's writing - an interesting plot line, steamy love scenes and believable characters. Kat Cantrell's The Invention of Marriage was a fun read with a delightful meet-cute of the two main characters, Alexia and Jesse. Though it's a short story, it spans several weeks and shows their relationship as it develops into something stronger. It was a great introduction to the couple and will definitely entice the reader to pick up their story in Marriage Reinvented. Historical Romance: Sabrina Darby's A Mistress by Design is a refreshingly different take on historical romance. It shows us the story of a courtesan pursuing a gentleman instead of the other way around. I love Sarah's determination to show Lord Harrison that he should be with her. The plot idea was quite unique and made for an interesting read. In Kate Pearce's A Right and Proper Apology, we have the story of a married couple in which the husband's sexual appetite has scared off the wife, until she returns two years later armed with new knowledge and desire. This was a fun and steamy read and the sexual chemistry between the two main characters was well written. With so many alpha male stories out there, it was a please to have a woman in charge in the bedroom. Vivienne Westlake's The Lady's Wicked Proposition was a steamy and seductive read. The setting was very well laid out for a short story, the plot was intriguing and the chemistry between the two main characters undeniable. Definitely will be interested in the next part of the story of these 2 lovers! I'm looking forward to reading more of these short stories and this anthology is a definite 5 star read for me!
