When I started to read this book I thought it was about Australian children's services. The similarities are remarkable! My heart goes out to Carla and her family and bless her for her courage to write this book. I worked for the department and also had dealings with them when I retired. Like Carla I endured similar treatment when I tried to be the carer of my granddaughter when they removed her from her mother. She was placed in foster care for a period of time as mum had accused my husband and I of dealing drugs. We had to be drug tested and suffered humiliation during this process. When we went to court they had lost our test results! We finally got our granddaughter thank goodness. I often wonder if we were treated so harshly because I was a former case worker ? It seems not as Carla has explained her situation. I had a sense of dejavous. Good on you Carla well done
