Once again Goodkind has written a masterpiece. While filling in the gaps in the Richard and Kahlan story, this tale is a more gentle depiction of the nature of humans. In the other Seeker novels, Goodkind shows a deep understanding of the very dark side of mankind, of the evil and corruption humans are very capable of, even when well intentioned. This tale is far more gentle in that depiction, showing just how versatile a writer Goodkind is. Quite apart from being a ripping tale - you will be drawn in from the first paragraph - it makes a pleasant departure from the harsh realities of the rest of the series, while very much keeping the sense of danger of corruption and evil ranged against the forces of good, which Richard and Kahlan represent.

The birth of the legend
July 30th, 2014
Kahlan regarded magda as a figure of legend, believing with all her heart that she was a great, I am glad to see with this book that the legend has proved more than true. I loved this book, the story artfully fills the gaps in the history of the adventures of richard and kahlan. It is a standalone and a prequel straddling that line nicely.

The First Confessor - The Legend Of
July 3rd, 2014
This is an amazing book. Explains so much that was not really missing from the series but could do with more information. Could have quite happily kept reading about what happens with the war (especially with the twist (I won't spoil it for anyone). Love the fact that Terry brought it direct to the readers as well. Now to re-start the series with more information. :) BRAVO Terry.

A fantastic read for anyone who has read the Sword of Truth series or for someone who wants to start an epic journey. Riveting and brilliant for anyone who wants to be swept away into a world of fantasy, which has its roots in truth, justice and accountability; everything that our world seems to be forgetting.

A must read for anyone who is a fan of this series, and a great introduction for anyone who hasn't read what is one of the best fantasy series ever written, alongside my other favorites like Drizzt and Dragonlance.

Awesome book
February 10th, 2014
I have a mountain of books that I still have to read. Being a book publisher, I receive many books. However, when I saw this offer for this eBook, In had to purchase it as I so enjoy Terry Goodkind as an author. This story was better than I had hoped for and it is very evident with this story how much he wanted to tell it. I highly recommend this book.

A fantastic book that is a great read from beginning to end. It draws you into the world and the journey of magda and her ultimate journey to become the first confessor. I couldn't put it down because I had to see what happened next. It is the background history you need to read if you intend on reading the rest of the series.

This is a great addition to the sword of truth series. It gives some insight to the great war and how the first confessor came into being. It also answers some questions as to why things were so difficult and confusion for Richard and Kahlan.
